About Gateway Barbershop
Gerardo, known around Gateway as Panda, comes from a family story that started over 35 years ago when his father came to Arizona as a migrant farmer, working the cotton fields of the East Valley to create a better future.
Migrant roots
Gerardo's father came to Arizona as a migrant farmer, working the cotton fields of the East Valley.
Barbering became the escape
As a teenager, Gerardo found a craft he could carry for the rest of his life.
First shop opened in 2015
Gateway started near Power and Williams Field, built around family, respect, and relationships.
Gerardo's story
Growing up as one of seven siblings, Gerardo learned early that nothing in life would be handed to him.
But he knew he wanted to build something different for himself and his future family.
That future started in a local barbershop. He watched his parents sacrifice everything they could to give their children opportunities they never had themselves.
For the first time, Gerardo saw barbering as more than just a job. It was a skill no one could ever take away from him.
While most kids his age were hanging out after school, Gerardo was focused on learning a craft and creating opportunity for himself. Motivated by his parents' sacrifices to put him through barber school, he took barbering seriously from day one.
In the early years, Gerardo was cutting nonstop, fueled by the belief that hard work and consistency would eventually pay off. The harder he worked, the more opportunity he created for himself.

Betting on himself
In 2015, at just 22 years old, Gerardo opened the first Gateway Barbershop near Power and Williams Field. With the East Valley rapidly growing and communities like Queen Creek and Gilbert continuing to expand, Gerardo believed there was room for a barbershop built around family, respect, and genuine relationships.
What started with one migrant family knowing almost nobody in Queen Creek has grown into generations of relationships throughout the East Valley.
What Gateway is built around
Gateway is a place where people are welcomed like family, not rushed through like another appointment.
The standard is simple: show up prepared, listen well, and give every client your best.
Gateway has grown through years of trust with clients, families, and neighborhoods across the East Valley.
Everything Gerardo has built is rooted in creating something his children, team, and community can be proud of.

More than a haircut
Today, Gateway Barbershop is more than a place to get a haircut. It's a place where people are welcomed like family.
Gerardo believes being a barber means showing up every day ready to serve others: listening, mentoring, encouraging, and giving every client your best. That same mindset is carried by every barber inside Gateway.
As Gateway grew, Gerardo became the kind of mentor, leader, and support system he wished he had more of growing up.
Whether it's helping someone feel confident before an important moment, mentoring younger barbers, or simply being someone people can count on, the mission has always stayed the same: take care of people.
East Valley pride
Gateway's story has always been tied to the East Valley: the cotton fields his family worked, the neighborhoods that shaped him, and the families who kept coming back as the shop grew.
Today, Gerardo is not only a barber and business owner, but also a husband, father, mentor, and proud member of the East Valley community.
Everything he's built is rooted in creating something his children, team, and community can one day be proud of.

Proudly serving
The East Valley.
